Spring bouquets in Melbourne can change by the week, and that is the whole pleasure of them. The calendar says spring starts on 1 September, however, often the flowers are less punctual. What changes first is the volume. After a winter of chrysanthemum, natives and the hardy imported stems, our growers start sending colour again, and the studio looks different within a fortnight.

What is coming through the door
Tulips, still, and better now than they were in July. A cut tulip keeps growing in the vase, which is why a tulip arrangement looks different on day three. I love them for exactly that reason. Our tulip delivery runs while the season holds.
Ranunculus and anemone, the two that make a spring bouquet look like spring rather than simply colourful. Their season is short. Catch it.
Blossom, which is the one that changes a room. It is brief, it drops, and it is still worth it every single year.
And the question everyone asks: Peonies
As of today, 1st September - not yet. Melbourne peony season runs roughly November into December for local stems, and I would rather tell you that plainly than sell you an import that will disappoint you. I have written about why peonies keep us waiting if you want the longer story.
Choosing well in spring
