How to Choose the Best New Baby Flowers
The day someone welcomes a baby into their home is one of the most exciting days of their life. Sending flowers is a beautiful way to say “congratulations” as it is a visual indication of encouragement. It provides a refreshing scent and brings joy and happiness to the new parents. Here’s what you should know about sending new baby flowers.
How do you know when to send new baby flowers?
New baby flower delivery can be tricky because you’re unlikely to know the exact date the baby will arrive. After all, a due date is only a guess and even scheduled c-sections can occur on different dates if the mother goes into labour at a different point in time.
So, if you want to send flowers to the hospital, make sure you wait until you know that the mom-to-be is in labour. Kate Hill provides same-day flower delivery, which means you’ll still have plenty of time to get a beautiful bouquet delivered to her bedside.
You may also consider having the new baby flowers sent to the home of the new mother. This way, she’ll have less to transport from the hospital after the baby has arrived. You can also do this in the weeks following birth. The flowers will still be a kind gesture regardless of how soon they arrive.
What kind of flowers should I order?
Baby boy flowers For baby boy flowers, you’ll often see freesia, hyacinths, iris, and tulips. These are all ideal for moms who have had baby boys. They come in blues and whites.
Baby girl flowers Popular baby girl flowers include orchids, roses, tulips, and sweetpeas. These are often topic picks for baby girl flowers because of pink, magenta, and pastel varieties that they come in.
Neutral baby flowers If you don’t know the gender of the baby, or you know the parents would prefer a neutral gender bouquet, then there are plenty of flowers suited to this. Remember, not everyone loves the typical blue or pink colour scheme and that’s okay! Here are a few ideas.
White roses: These often represent purity, innocence, and youthfulness (perfect for a new bundle of joy!).
Phalaenopsis Orchids (Stem or Plants): This type of flower symbolizes adoration, loyalty, and longevity. They’re known as “luxury” flowers. They’re perfect for the joy of a new addition or when you’re bringing joy to someone’s day.
Tulips: Another simple, neutral flower that symbolizes innocence and purity.
What should I write on the card?
Following the birth of a baby, new parents need encouragement, support, and love. Unless you know the parents personally, you should steer away from anything comical. Even if you’re trying to be funny, parenting can be intimidating without someone writing you a sarcastic card. Here are some ideas to get you started – feel free to personalize further.
Congratulations! Life as a family of three will be incredibly joyous.

Welcome to the world, little one!
I can’t wait to see the beautiful person this baby becomes! Congrats!
Other things to keep in mind when selecting new baby flowers
Make sure no one has allergies. Do the family a favour and conduct a little bit of “research.” While flowers are thoughtful, if the recipient has a known allergy to flowers, then it can cause more harm than good. Double-check and make sure they’re just as meaningful in action as they are in theory.
Choose flowers with a soft scent. Unless you know the recipient has a preference for a certain flower or scent, it’s often best to stick with softer scents. Flowers with softer scents include iris, sunflowers, daffodils, etc. Lilacs and lilies have stronger scents.
Buy new baby flowers online. Purchasing flowers online is one of the easiest ways to ensure a seamless delivery. You don’t even have to reside in the same city as the new parents to ensure they have a beautiful bouquet waiting for them once their bundle of joy arrives.
Final thoughts on selecting flowers for a new baby
New baby flowers are a common gift that marks an addition to the family. A bouquet will help raise their spirits as they spend their first few weeks at home and embark on the journey of raising a child. Select a gender-specific bunch or go neutral – either way, it’s the thought that counts!
