Wedding Flowers Highlight | Lucia & Edward

I will forever cherish Lucia & Edward’s winter wedding. From the moment I met the couple I couldn’t wait to get started designing their beautiful wedding flowers.

Lucia & Edward’s elegant and sophisticated wedding was celebrated at Alto - an uber chic venue located on the top of the GPO building in the Melbourne CBD. The core of the brief was driven by the linen fabric samples and colours, which included lots of moody, rich tones paired with soft elegant blush tones. My heart jumped with excitement after understanding Lucia’s vision and I instantly knew their wedding flowers were going to be unforgettable!

We designed a bespoke, one off concept with the wedding flowers featuring lots of lush moody dark Foliages, velvet black Roses, locally grown dark red classic Roses, and burgundy Cymbidium orchids to contrast the blush peach Phalaenopsis Orchids. The contrast of the colours, mixed with lots of texture and warm ambient lighting, created solid foundations to for the most memorable winter wedding flowers.

Lucia’s custom bouquet featured masses of long stemmed blush peach Phalaenopsis Orchid stems that were seated on beautiful pale Hellebores and a light cascading green peppercorn Foliage base. The bouquet suited the heavily detailed and warm colour of the bridal gown which was custom designed by Vincenzo Pintaudi Couture.

We added wedding flowers everywhere we could at Alto! Long guest tables featured long and low vase designs, which guests took home at the end of the night as a thank you gift, and the welcome and seating signage were adorned with floral garlands. The bar featured an explosion of floral, and the cocktail and outdoor tables were adorned with floral vase designs. And finally, the beautiful, heavenly scented & perfectly created wedding cake by Boutique Cake Art was lovingly embellished with wired blooms to highlight the detail in the cake.

Lucia & Edward’s winter wedding flowers should inspire you to not be afraid of a rich and moody pastel palette for your wedding flowers as they can be so elegant and impactive. Especially for a beautiful winter wedding in Melbourne.

Thank you Lucia and Edward for trusting us with the creative freedom to design your wedding flowers! It was an absolute honour.

Some kind words shared from Lucia:

“Kate Hill is the most fabulous florist you could ever ask for! In fact her team are more than that, they are classy and innovative and their creative design is completely on point.

Edward and I want to thank Kate and her wonderful team for making our wedding day ever so special. We were blown away when we saw what they had created at our event space.

The whole process was professional and easy and above our expectations.

Thank you Kate and I highly recommend you to anyone.”
