Wedding table setting flowers at Melbourne Wedding reception

Jackie & Don Wedding Flowers at The Terrace Melbourne

Jackie and Don celebrated their wedding on a perfect summer day in Melbourne, beginning with a traditional ceremony at St John’s in Toorak and continuing with their reception at The Terrace Melbourne in the Royal Botanic Gardens.

It was a wedding that balanced formality with ease, and that contrast gave the day its charm. The church brought tradition and structure, while the gardens and reception setting allowed the flowers to soften the mood and carry the celebration into the evening.

A Wedding at The Terrace Melbourne

Jackie and Don chose The Terrace Melbourne for their reception, which is one of those venues that feels open, generous and unmistakably connected to its setting. Positioned within the Royal Botanic Gardens, it offers a rare mix of natural beauty and polished entertaining space, which made it a very good fit for a wedding that wanted elegance without stiffness.

The flowers were designed to sit comfortably within that environment, using lush green foliage, seasonal white flowers and soft latte tones to create something calm, layered and well judged in the room.

Wedding Reception Styling

Guests began the evening with drinks on the terrace, where the setting lent itself beautifully to a pre-dinner reception. A seafood station and champagne tower added theatre to the celebration, but the room still felt warm and welcoming rather than overly formal. As the day moved into the evening, candlelight and floral detail helped carry that atmosphere through, giving the reception a softness that worked beautifully against the garden setting.

What I liked most about this wedding was that the flowers did not need to dominate the venue to be effective. They added shape, texture and mood, but always in a way that felt right for the space.

One of the key floral features of the reception was the central pole installation, dressed with cascading greenery and floral detail to draw the eye through the space. It gave the room shape and focus without interrupting the openness that makes The Terrace Melbourne so appealing. At a venue like this, flowers work best when they help define the room while still allowing the surroundings to breathe.

The overall styling was brought together beautifully by No. 14 Events, with each layer of the reception working in the same direction. When flowers, linens, candlelight and layout are all properly resolved, the room feels complete rather than simply decorated.

The Bridal Bouquet

Jackie’s bridal bouquet was a classic dome of locally grown ivory white peony roses. I wanted it to feel timeless and composed, with a clean silhouette that would sit naturally against her gown and the tone of the day. Bouquets like this rely on flower quality, proportion and restraint, which is often exactly what makes them memorable.

A Melbourne Wedding to Remember

Jackie and Don’s wedding was a lovely example of what Melbourne does so well. A traditional ceremony, a garden reception, thoughtful styling and flowers that felt right for both the couple and the venue. It was a pleasure to be part of a day that carried warmth and clarity from beginning to end.

If you are planning a wedding at The Terrace Melbourne and are looking for wedding flowers in Melbourne, we would be delighted to help create flowers that feel right for the setting and right for your day.
