Flowers Delivered Into Mentone

Como Parade splits the suburb in two, with the shops, the bakeries and the professional rooms clustered around the station in the middle. Business deliveries there are straightforward, though the parade runs both east and west of the line, so it is worth including which side on the order.

South of the parade the streets run down toward the beach, with older brick homes, newer townhouses and the schools along Balcombe Road. The foreshore end is quiet and residential and the numbers are clear, which makes the foreshore streets some of the easiest in the suburb.

The Steps Before Mentone Gets Its Flowers

At the Market Before the Floor

Our buyers have bought at the Melbourne market since 2007, and a relationship that long means growers show them their better lines first. A Mentone arrangement can therefore carry stems cut the evening before, and a box that would not hold up for a week is left exactly where it stands.

Culled, Cut and Conditioned

Once the boxes reach Southbank they come apart on the bench, and every stem is judged before anything is designed. The ones that will not last are culled. The rest are stripped, cut and stood in clean water, and your florist checks the Mentone order again as it is designed and before it is packed.

Water Comes as Standard

Every Mentone delivery goes out in our signature bag with its water vessel in the base, so the stems drink the whole way down and can sit on a step until someone gets home. Change the water each day. If anything is wrong, we replace it or refund it.
