Flowers to Yarraville Village and Beyond

The village is Yarraville. Anderson Street and Ballarat Street around the Sun Theatre have the cafes, the wine bar and the bookshop, and flowers for a table or a counter there are a regular part of our western run. Behind the village it is Victorian terraces and Edwardian weatherboards, most of them renovated, on streets that fill with prams on a Saturday morning.

Yarraville follows Footscray on the run and comes before Williamstown, so an order placed in the morning is designed at the studio and on the road before lunch, from stems our buyers chose at the market that same dawn.

At the Melbourne market our buyers have had the same growers since 2007, and those growers give them the first look at what was cut overnight. Yarraville arrangements are designed from that look. It also means a bunch that is not right is left on the trolley without argument.

Every market box is opened on the Southbank bench and checked stem by stem, and what falls short goes back. What we keep is recut, conditioned in clean water and usually designed within a day. Your florist checks the stems again while the arrangement is being made, and once more before it leaves for Yarraville.

Arriving in Water

Yarraville deliveries travel in our signature bag, which was designed with a water vessel in its base, so flowers arrive standing in water and can stay in the bag on a verandah or a cafe counter. Top the water up daily. If anything is wrong, we replace it or refund it.
